The Cincinnati Royals beat the the Philadelphia 76ers 117-114. Oscar Robertson had 43 points while Jerry Lucas had a staggering 40 rebounds. Robertson also posted a triple-double with 10 rebounds and 10 assists, one of his record 181 career triple doubles. This was the 76ers first season in Philadelphia after moving from Syracuse and the Cincinnati Royals eventually relocated to Sacramento and re-branded themselves as the Kings in 1985. Robertson went on to win the MVP that season, averaging a near triple-double and Jerry Lucas won Rookie of the Year averaging 17 points and 17 rebounds.
